Rascal Revival was originally formed in late 2017 as an acoustic trio featuring acoustic guitar, violin & percussion. Based on the works of singer/songwriter R.J. Conrad, the group was rounded out by violinist Caleb Stelle & percussionist Jay Knaub. In July of 2018 the band released their debut EP “Right On Time” & was lucky enough to add bassist Liam Galiano to the lineup in the process. As fate would have it, on the night of their EP Release Party they added Eric DeAlmeida on saxophone without ever having the opportunity to practice together. Unfortunately, before the new lineup could play another show, their original drummer was forced to leave the band due to a terrific career opportunity. After a few months of searching they found the perfect fit in drummer, Jeff Fuhrman. Not only was he a perfect fit for their sound & style, but he also brought along lead guitarist Jake Joyce, creating an exciting new identity for the band! Rascal Revival has a bit of a new sound that can best be described as often having structurally folk roots with evident elements of jazz, funk and rock & roll!
STORY BEHIND OUR NAME: Rascal Revival was a concept that singer R.J. Conrad came up with that was based on a story of him a & month long trip in the hospital. When he was in the 3rd grade he almost died from a ruptured appendix. During his recovery the only thing he ever wanted to watch on TV was his VHS tapes of the original Little Rascals (“The Gang”) from the 1920’s-1930’s. The only issue was that when he laughed it caused him pain, so there was constantly nurses coming in asking if he was alright & asking if they needed to turn off the TV. Needless to say his answer was almost always “yes I’m alright & no do NOT turn it off” - If you ask him he may also mention that it’s also a bonus for him to talk about the original “Little Rascals” in an effort to revitalize the series & establish their true dominance over the 1990’s remake (maybe tread lightly on that one).
