Coming to the Taste Test Audition Space April 1-29th!
Creole Cuisine with a Global Flair
Meet Chef April Collier from G's Jook Joint:
Some of you may already know this local York activist and her concept, which was formerly on E. Princess Street. April sees all of the good happening in this city, and she helps contribute to that good passing along her food and skills in the kitchen to others.
The food April will be serving at G’s Jook Joint will carry a lot of inspiration from New Orleans, which is where April really honed her cooking skills. These skills helped her immensely after Hurricane Katrina hit and devastated her community. She realized that food can help in any situation and that one way or another, everybody has to eat. Food has the ability to bring people together and feel better through the flavors.
Collier is very excited to serve her shrimp & grits, and she thinks everyone else will be excited, too. She also mentioned that she has some interesting uses for cornbread that will be making an appearance on her menu!
She is excited to be serving her food to the community again and has a message for everyone, “I didn’t go anywhere, I’m still here.”
Stop in during the month of April for her Creole cuisine with a global flare! Keep an eye on future posts for the hours of G’s Jook Joint and the menu.
